JSG Oceana “Hard Roc” glass meets the highest standards in the plumbing industry. We manufacture our glass products to be thermal shock resistant, scratch, impact, and stain resistant. JSG Oceana sinks carry the UPC certification from IAPMO.

IAPMO (International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials) is an agency that evaluates plumbing and mechanical products through nationally recognized standards and to the requirements of the Uniform Plumbing Code ™ (UPC ™). All JSG Oceana undermount bathroom sinks and kitchen sinks went through the same rigorous tests as porcelain and surpassed them.

“Hard Roc” glass is sturdy and resistant to small accident breakage, such as dropping a brush, razor, or aerosol can into the basin. Realistically, however, a heavy object such as a hammer will crack a glass sink, just as it would a porcelain sink.

JSG Oceana Glass sinks require no more special treatment than a standard porcelain sink and are tough enough to withstand the wear and tear of everyday life while remaining as beautiful as the day they were purchased.

The Strength and Durability of JSG Oceana’s “Hard Roc” Glass

The most common type of decorative glass and the cheapest to produce is soda-lime glass. Soda-lime has among the highest expansion ratios of any glass, giving it poor resistance to sudden temperature changes and a vulnerability to chipping and cracking. Additionally, soda-lime glass has only fair resistance to chemical corrosives.

JSG Oceana “Hard Roc” glass products will not crack or develop lines from hot and cold water usage like traditional soda-lime glass products. JSG Oceana “Hard Roc” glass can withstand repeated temperature changes between 0° and 212° F without damage. “Hard Roc” glass has a low coefficient of Expansion, 3 times less than soda lime glass. This makes it useful for cooking, heating and other thermal environments, without the risk of breakage due to thermal shock.

This is the main reason that JSG Oceana is the only glass kitchen sink on the market.

JSG Oceana “Hard Roc” glass is stain resistant. “Hard Roc” glass is highly resistant to non-fluorinated chemicals thus allowing it to keep its lustrous color and clear quality. The same cannot be said for traditional soda-lime glass, which has only fair resistance to chemical corrosives and over time becomes cloudy from household cleaners, as well as rust marked from hard water.
